Why

Your AI output should
stand out from the rest.

Everyone is using AI now, and getting back the same hedging, the same bullet structures, the same polite, forgettable advice. The default output is the wrong starting point if you want your work to stand out for school, a portfolio, a pitch, a launch.

The fix isn't a better model. It's a better prompt and a better workflow, plus a way to learn them while you work.

Four problems no prompt library solves

Same prompts, same answers.

Everyone is using AI now and getting back near-identical hedging, the same bullets, the same forgettable advice.

No system to consistently stand out.

There is no shared rubric or method for prompt quality. Just folklore, threads, and paste-template sites.

No way to learn while you prompt.

Feedback loops happen too late, or never. You hit send, get a generic answer, and never see what would have moved the needle.

Big tasks need a plan, not one mega-prompt.

Ambitious goals collapse when crammed into a single message. Without phased structure, the output is a brief about the artifact, not the artifact.

Today: Chrome extension for ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini.
Soon: VS Code extension for editor workflows.
The old way
  • Type, hope, repeat. Same vague answers.
  • No idea why one prompt worked and another didn't.
  • Cram an entire goal into one mega-prompt.
With MaxOutput
  • Score → Enhance → Send. Every change cited.
  • See exactly which dimension is weak before you hit enter.
  • Ambitious goals decompose into phased prompts that synthesize.
How / for users

Two modes.
One extension.

Simple prompts get scored and rewritten with cited research. Ambitious prompts become phased plans that end in the finished artifact. The same extension, routing based on the complexity of what you typed.

Every Project Mode plan ends with a deterministic synthesis step that forbids hedging, placeholders, and re-summarizing. You get the artifact, not a brief about the artifact.

⚠ Advice
Output 2 · Bare prompt + resume…hedges

You should consider what sets your portfolio apart.

Think about the audience you're targeting, whether that's AAA studios,

indie teams, or somewhere in between. Your portfolio should emphasize

your strongest technical work while also showing range.

Consider using a clean, modern design that doesn't distract from the

projects. You might want to include descriptions of your role and

quantifiable outcomes where possible.

You may want to highlight any awards or recognition you've received.

The tone of your portfolio should match the kinds of studios you hope

to hear back from. Think carefully about what story you want to tell.

FAQ

Quick answers.

The five questions everyone asks first. If yours isn't here, the privacy policy and the sources list above probably cover it.

  • What is MaxOutput?
A Chrome extension that scores every prompt you write on six research-backed dimensions, rewrites it with cited principles in one click, and turns ambitious goals into phased prompts that ship the finished deliverable. Works inline on ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
  • Is it free?
Yes to start. The Trial tier gives you 10 free projects on our hosted endpoint. The Unlimited tier is free forever if you bring your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key. A hosted Pro tier (no key management) is coming.
  • Does it work on every AI?
Today: ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. Same extension, same scoring, same rewrites on each. A VS Code extension for editor and terminal workflows is next.
  • Does my prompt data leave my device?
No. Your prompt text, AI responses, and pasted API keys never leave your machine. The only thing that can leave is opt-in anonymous ratings (a UUID, a score, which research rules fired), and only if you have Share anonymous feedback on. Full details in the privacy policy.
  • How is it different from a prompt library?
Libraries hand you templates to copy. MaxOutput scores your own prompt as you type, rewrites it with citations to specific papers, and orchestrates multi-step plans inline. You learn the underlying rubric instead of paste-template fatigue.
Why I built it

This is the tool I wanted as a student. So I built it.

I kept getting the same hedging, generic answers from every AI tool I used. So I read the prompt-engineering papers, turned their findings into a scoring rubric, and built the extension I wanted to use myself.

If MaxOutput helps your work stand out, whether for school, for a portfolio, or for a launch, that's the whole win.
